Since the movie was released last week, I thought it be fitting to add a Spiderman & Venom image to the blog, as well since I havent really posted much in a while.

Enjoy!

Get yo' hand on these books!!

If you want some great artist books then head over to http://processjunkie.blogspot.com Alberto Ruiz has done an amazing job at get some great artists books printed in an even more amazing format. I picked up these two and plan to purchase the rest in the near future. Alberto's process book is great if you want to learn some tricks in Illustrator and I highly recommend Sean "Cheeks" Galloway's books (both volumes) as well you can pickup books from other talented artists like Robin Mitchell, Joe Pekar, Matt Stewart, Erwin Haya, Wade Shin and Andrew Wilson. They look great all together on a bookshelf but even better in your hands checking them out! Dont these two look great in my hands?

Some sketches from one of the pages of issue 2, trying to work out an action where the character gets hit by two objects in the shoulder and chest (shoulder 1st) which throws him off balance. I think I am leaning towards the 4th one in. Although I like the idea of looking at the scene from behind the main character with the person tossing the objects in the background. Opinions?

The Pug has landed

I know this is quite different that what I usually post, but I just wanted to share a picture of my wife and I's new dog. As well for the drawing board fans out there I am sporting the shirt as well. So it had some connection to drawing.

Moonglow Issue 2 panels

Been working on several pages and was debating actually trying to get this one all in color, just think the way I am publishing this it is not very cost effective at this time, but I am making everything in color and just greyscaling it so potentially later on it can be adapted into a color book. Below are a couple sample panels from Page 05.

Green Lantern on Canson paper: I think the colors on this version came out better than on the PS version. Won't be keeping it though, it will be given away to a friend.

Green Lantern-I may rework this one as I am not solid on all the shadows at the moment.

Venom-The Process FLAIR! To jazz the image up a little more I added a background with a gradient, and took some time to add some webbing, copied the layer, set one to Overlay and the other I added a blur and took down the transparency. Fini!

Venom-The Process Part Two: Here is the colored version, its about three layers. Pencils, Flat colors and some highlights and shadows. And you can notice that to define Venom more I colored the lines around his body and logo in grey. Next...add some flair!

Venom: the Process, here is something I worked on today and I thought it would be a neat idea to post the whole process, although I skipped the roughs and am starting with the finished pencils (not inks) pencils. Next colors...

Well, I went and watched X-Men: The Last Stand on Sunday, i thought it was pretty good, effects were good, not too much development on some characters (which was kind of a shame) but I think the characters used were a great addition, everyone wants Gambit, but I think Beast, Angel and Juggernaught among others was well done. I give it a 6.5/10

The Process Part 2: Well, it took some time and patience but I think for the first attempt at coloring and inking in Illustrator it turned out pretty good, there is some obvious areas to work on but overall not bad...thoughts?
